Solutions and Goals

Training – Currently, there are ten fully-trained harpists available in The Harp Foundation community of harpists. In order to increase market penetration, the Foundation needs to increase the number of harpists and level of expertise in servicing program areas. Short-term certification training and specialized treatment training are required for all harpists. Long-term accredited training programs are being developed. The Board of Directors is partnering with several community leaders to develop the training program and marketing plan to attract and train additional harpists.

Fundraising – In tandem with our program development, an initial fundraising plan is in place to raise a portion of the ongoing funds needed to sustain the organization. The fundraisings plan involves an integrated approach for creating lifelong individual donor support, grant acquisition, and community partnerships. The first special event was held in October, 2006 to raise funds and visibility. Annual fundraising efforts are projected to raise $75,000.

Program Expansion – With increased charitable funding, the Foundation could better fulfill its vision and impact in the community. The funding would help the Foundation with the coordination, scheduling, and implementation of harp music to expand our programs and services to additional facilities and organizations. This will enable the foundation to also serve support groups dealing with issues of grief and loss, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, terminal illness, acute or chronic pain. This expanded program would meet the needs of children and families and provide a meaningful experience utilizing the cultural arts and complimentary therapies.

Research and Development – In addition to expanding its program outreach, The Harp Foundation's goals include clinical research and development, advanced training, and education for practitioners and compassionate care in mainstream healthcare environments. New funding will help the Foundation strengthen current operations and support the next phase of research and development, education and training, and information referral. The long term goal of Research and Development is to clinically prove the spiritual side of healthcare utilizing The Harp Foundation model and document results for managed care, thus providing reimbursements for integrative therapies, modalities into the current medical model.

Develop a Model for Integrated Therapies – The Foundation wishes to create a training program for harpists that would be tied to an accredited college/university program. The training program will serve as a model for integrated therapies, resulting in a level of expertise and commitment that will make a difference in the quality of service provided to citizens of Maricopa County . The model will most importantly develop and sustain community partnerships to move forward in the area providing quality healthcare alternatives to our diverse population here in Arizona .

Vision for the Future

The vision for The Harp Foundation is to provide a model for other integrative therapies. We also want to provide loving and compassionate care in mainstream healthcare environments.

Our goal is to develop and sustain community partnerships and move forward in providing quality healthcare alternatives to our diverse population. While partnering with like-minded organizations, we will model, structure, format guidelines, and a create a training manual to be used in daily practice at medical, religious, and home environments.

The program will be inclusive of diverse styles of music and musicians, thereby providing clinical training and credentials for practitioners at a college setting, which will provide education and clinical research to support the many positive effects of integrative therapies.
