Meet Harpist, Linda Petersen
Linda credits her husband’s love of harp music for her career as a harpist. Dave was always searching the newspapers for harp concerts. He found a story about an upcoming recital featuring harpist, Ester McLaughlin.
Linda had the opportunity to meet Ester after the concert. She inquired about harp training. Per Ester’s suggestion, Linda spent three years learning the piano before beginning her instruction with Ester. In 1984, Linda began her career as a harpist.
“Playing the harp has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.” says Linda. “ Being a part of the Angel Song program at Saint Joseph’s Hospital has been a special blessing in my life. I have observed first hand the soothing effects on the children, their families and friends, and even the medical professionals, as they respond to the therapeutic sounds of the harp.”
Linda received her certification through the Harp Foundation’s training program and the Music for Healing and Transition Program.
She has been the recording secretary for the Phoenix, Arizona Chapter of the American Harp Society as well as a major supporter of The Harp Foundation.
Currently, she works as a judicial assistant in Phoenix. |
