Clinical Research to Show Results
Dr. Linda Larkey, PhD and Director of the Women’s Cancer Prevention Office is one of the principle investigators in our most recent hospital-based harp study. We will be targeting various patient populations in order to show the efficiency of therapeutic harp in stress management and pain reduction, as well as facilitating a shorter hospital stay. Ultimately, the study will focus on the enhancing properties of therapeutic harp in terms of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Currently, there exist many anecdotal reports from patients and medical staff supporting the effectiveness of the harp and its impact on the physical being. Specific examples include:
- A baby appeared relaxed during a respiratory procedure
- A child with a brain tumor responded for the first time following surgery to harp music.
- A mother responds, “Please, one more song for my daughter. She needs the music – she just had chemo treatment.”
- A doctor states, “It helps to have harp music in the background when sharing difficult news with the family.
